Pahi iti - Arakanihi
Pahi iti now has a new home in the Hokianga
Having moved from Pataua and the care of Jolene Busby, her niece Arakanihi, and their crew. Purchased by Te Ra ringa raupa to act as a platform for trialling traditional woven sails. She has passed to me as a koha, for a full redesign and refit, when completed she will allow us to begin relearning the arts of sailing and navigation here in the Hokianga.
Pahi iti was conceived and built by Whangarei based Jeremy Walker. A contemporary design inspired by a Tuamotu Pahi waka,, ply and fibreglass.
The projects intent for Pahi iti is that she will be classroom, workshop, a gathering place for navigation, for conservation, for healing.
Follow the rebuild. Then join us on the water.
Stay close and follow this project. We’re putting her back on the water
